In memory of our beloved Marine & Friend - Wayne Malotte

Passed on to our Lord, February 18, 2012

Wayne passed away peacefully, Saturday 18th February 2012 at 1947 hours in his home on Timber Cove Drive, Campbell.

His family were with him at his passing.

From Kevin Kimma:  I was very saddened today to learn of the passing of Wayne Malotte this past Saturday, Feb 18th, 2012. I remember clearly during our Detachment meeting Saturday morning, when I was walking around and greeting people, I was wondering where Wayne was. Wayne always came to the meetings and was a great member of our Detachment. I found these pictures of Wayne at some of our events. Look carefully as he is in the background in some of the pictures. You can see many of our other members also, some have passed on and I am sure are with Wayne in Heaven right now chatting up a storm, telling stories about Iwo Jima and maybe even eating SOS for breakfast. Wayne was a friend to me and I shall always remember his wonderful kind manner and cheerful spirit. God bless you Wayne and Semper Fidelis...Kevin This picture just above has a special meaning to me. In the picture you see Wayne Malotte standing in the background talking to Barry Harris. In the foreground is my son Chris Kimma talking to Chuck Allman. A few minutes later, Wayne and Chuck, who I believe have not met before this BBQ in 2008, came close together and I remember Chuck noticing the 3rd Marine Division cover that Wayne was wearing and the two of them starting talking about Iwo Jima. I remember Chuck asking Wayne if that was Wayne's patrol walking the ridge above where Chuck was walking down in the trenches. It was!  It turns out that Wayne and Chuck served just a few yards away from each other over sixty years before they met at this BBQ. I was there to see them meet and talk. What a memory for me of these two heroes.

 Semper Fi...Kevin Kimma

From Dave Williams:  Kevin, this was an outstanding tribute to an excellent man.  I did not know Wayne as well as you, but was impressed by his quiet manner, his friendliness and warm smile and genuine noble character.  And while I don't claim to be psychic, I too was looking for him at our last meeting, wondering where he was.   Apparently, God had need of him in Heaven.  He will be missed.  The 'Old Breed' of WW II  and Korea are my heroes, and Wayne was one of them.  Semper Fidelis,  Dave Williams
