Santa Clara Valley Rifle Club http://www.scvrc.com/
has 2 programs they conduct at the 10th Street Range
http://www.scvrc.com/10th_street.htm:
First is the "Newbies Program" that's conducted every 2d Saturday
beginning at 4:30 pm. This is very informal and there is no cost and no
previous experience needed. It's a walk-in program geared toward people
who have never shot before. After a safety brief, participants shoot .22
caliber rifles. Pizza, BBQ, and other food is provided.
Second is the more formal Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM) program
http://www.scvrc.com/4h_scout.htm serves as an introduction to
firearms safety as well as instruction in the fundamentals of rifle
marksmanship. They have set aside every Saturday from 10:30 to 2 pm for
the exclusive purpose of encouraging marksmanship skill
development. Participants are expected to go through the First Steps
safety class

is conducted the first Saturday every month. The First Steps class costs
$25. After that, the shooting is free.
